Hi everyone, it´s Thursday again, so it´s time for another Talent Thursday. Excuse me for grammar or spelling errors, i´m from Holland. Today we talk about Mental Awereness, Mental Health and Self Care with Kayla Uimari from California. Mental Care is at the moment a hot topic in the Netherlands, a lot of people have been talking as a guest in talkshows to bring out more awereness about this topic. I try to make this blog not to big, but it´s difficult for me because there is a lot to talk about. Take your time while reading. If there´s to much to write about it, there will be a part 2 next week! Recovery My therapist had a very nice comparison. Think of it as someone who is iceskating. When you make a slip, you stand up and you continue your way. When you have a relapse, you fall through the ice and you have to home to put on new clothes. Then you lose a lot of time, because you fall back in your old patterns. I am currently working on a relapse prevention plan, what are my triggers? We also use a traffic light method. Green is feeling good, red is feeling bad. I will upload the formats at Puddifoots x Share Your Talent x Knowledge & Awereness. Going to a therapist or counselor should not be a taboo. Depression is a common disease these days. I have read an article, in which they predicts that by 2030 the biggest reason why people can´t work will be due to depression will occur! (2) What's your name and where do you live? My name is Kay Uimari and I live on the beautiful central coast of California with my puppy, Morty. He is a Rottweiler/Golden Retriever mix. I came by your Instagram a time ago, and i really like the topics you discuss and your website Rose-Minded. Can you tell me something about your website? Thank you for your kind words! My website is a mental health awareness platform for people of all ages to gain support, encouragement, knowledge, and understanding. I hope to let people with any kind of mental illness know that they are not alone, and the toxic stigma surrounding mental health needs to be eradicated. I try to provide resources and self-care tips as well, so people can incorporate easy treatment methods on top of professional help for maximum wellness. Mental Awereness is an important topic, right now in Holland to. Can you tell me something about the Mental Health support system in the USA? Is everybody assured for mental health issues. Like for example, when you get a depression, you can go to a psychologist for free? In Holland it is. Great question! This is a very important subject in health care, despite mental health being only around 5% of the entire U.S. healthcare budget (Egypt's mental health care budget is close to 9% of their healthcare budget). Inpatient care has almost disappeared in the United States, and the mentally ill are over-crowding prisons and homeless populations without appropriate help. Under the Affordable Care Act, businesses were required to increase the mental health coverage of their employees, although, with Trump in office, I'm unsure of the future of mental health care. I read an article on a website, it was a research paper. They wrote that by 2030 depression will be the biggest reason people can't go to work. What's your opinion about this? What could be the reasons people get depression more often then 20 years ago? I've heard similar things. More young adults are depressed today and getting depressed at younger ages than in decades before. I think this could be attributed to many factors, including the social media boom, problems in the healthcare systems, technological advances (the human brain is not supposed to multitask as much as we push it to do in this day and age), and pressure on young people to grow up quicker. There are probably many more factors, I'd like to hear what the people in Holland believe to be contributing factors! Maybe a personal question, but did you have mental issues yourself before? Or are you interreseted in this topic, maybe you study for it? I have suffered from Depression and other mental illnesses (including eating disorders) since I was about 15 years old. In high school, I didn't know much about mental health, so I thought I was just crazy and weird which made me feel even more isolated. I've always been interested in psychology and used to read my mother's old college psychology textbooks in high school, and eventually changed my major in college to psychology. I earned my AA-T in Psychology and am now working towards my Bachelor's degree online I saw some art on your instagram page to. Can you tell me something about it? When I started blogging, I had no clue what graphic design was or how to do it. I've never studied graphic design or art (and I can not draw or paint to save my life lol) but when I practiced every day so my website could be aesthetically-pleasing, I eventually got the hang of it and started making things for fun! What are your dreams? I have a lot of dreams, all leading towards helping people in the future. All I've ever wanted to do for a career was help people, and when I discovered I was fascinated by the human brain I found the right path towards making that dream a reality. Hopefully, I can write books, practice therapy, and create programs to help people struggling with their mental health. I also want a lot of big dogs! Where do you see yourself 5-10 years from now? Let´s have another interview over 5 years, that would be cool! In 5-10 years I hope to be out of college and in either an internship or practicing my own therapy. If not this then I would work in a mental health facility either in a prison or hospital because that's where I feel I could help people the most. Yes, let's do another in 5 years! Thanks for having me for the interview! If you you're struggling with any mental health issues, you must visit Rose-Minded.com. There's a lot of information on the site. Topics about wellness, selfcare, mental health, the act of awakening and easy to use formats (like a moodtracker for example). Her Instagram page is also a recommendation for following! Counseling & Medication
Never forget to go to seek help if you need it. Im now searching for CBD oil because i want to get rid of sleeping pills, i almost fixed it now. I have only 25-50mg serequel left. For me, that's a cig accomplisment, but it's hard sometimes because i feel so overwhelmed a lot these days. I used all kind off pills (for ADHD, Depression, Anxiety etc). Some of them helped me, other ones just make my symptyms worse. When i speak for myself, i'm react sensitive on medication. I don't need a lot, mostly i need a lot of rest. I will write more about mental health, when i feel ready. I think there are a lot more things to work on, for example food and excersice. I'm still working on it, everyday, to learn more about the effects on my mind and body. I will not say medication is bad, sometimes you need it. CBD oil can be good for everything, so thats my new research, there well be a new blog in dutch over burn outs en tips. Sources: #ASAP
